Time to shine...in 2009

I want to wish everyone a safe, happy, and healthy 2009. I foresee only good things to come after everything 2008 has thrown at us.

I have met some amazing people in '08, and I hope to meet many more in '09. I wish you all wealth and luck and nothing but the best in coming year!

Say hello to my little friend

My oh so fabulous husband surprised me with this wonderful Christmas present a few weeks early so I could bring it with me on my trip to Minnesota. Not only did he get me the camera, he got me this entire package. He was so proud of himself for listening to me during the year and surprising me with it. I LOVE it!! I still need to figure out how to use it to it's full potential, but in the meantime, I'm enjoying taking pictures with it! They are so clear and amazing. Thank you babe for the amazing present....and yes, this makes up for the portable dishwasher gift from years past. ;)

It's been a while.

Life has been a bit hectic lately, but is finally calming down. I had to do a 2 month externship at a dental office and it kept me pretty busy. I was leaving my house at 7:30 and getting home around 6:30 or so at night, and going from not working at all...to that...was tough to say the least. I had been working out and feeling great, and it all went down the toilet with that job. I hated it. I would come home and get take out because neither J nor I wanted to cook. So I went from riding 16 miles on the weekend and working out on my elliptical 30 minutes a day, to eating out twice a day. I feel horrible now. Thanksgiving and Christmas didn't help either. I ate so much crap over the past month or so that I need to make some changes. I have to say, I love the thought of a new year. New beginnings. I don't really make new years resolutions because I know I won't stick to them for longer than a month, but I do see it as a time to start fresh. I have several goals for 2009 and plan to ease into them. We are going to try to cut chemicals out of our lives. I know this is much easier said than done, so we are going to make small changes throughout the year. My sister in law uses some great chemical free soaps and detergents, and I found them at Trader Joe's. Once we use up the soap and detergent we have here, we plan to only buy this natural soap.

Along with removing chemicals from our house comes removing chemicals from our food. I'm trying to be realistic and know this will not be 100% possible for us. We do plan to buy organic or local most of the time. I need to find some good farmers markets down here as well.

We will also continue our recycling, but we plan to try to use less waste as well. Using regular towels instead of paper towels, etc. If you have any suggestions on how to use less waste, I'd love to hear it, or on any of these topics.

I wanted to get back into working out again right away, but fell down my brothers stairs and have been out of commission for a while. I have a nice bruise across my back and my neck is very stiff. I always wake up feeling ok, but by the end of the day, I'm so stiff I can barely move. I'm getting better every day though, so hopefully I'll be back on the elliptical soon!

I also had a working interview last Wednesday and they want me to come back in on the 31st to work for a bit and discuss the details of me working for them for good. It's not my dream job, but beggars can't be choosers right now and hopefully it will lead to bigger and better things. We also sold our house and close on January 31st. It will be so nice to finally be rid of that house. It's bitter sweet for me because it was the first house J and I bought together and we lived a good life there in Sacramento. We met great people, and had a lot of fun. But since we moved, it's been an anchor holding us back. All our money was going into the house and we don't live there anymore. So I have a lot of fond memories, but I'll be glad to be free of it.

For now, it looks like we are starting the year out on a positive note with a new job and the sale of our house, and a trip to Japan. I look forward to what 2009 has to offer since 2008 was a bit trying. I wish you all a positive new year as well.
