Ode to Jen Part 2

Ode to Jen part 1

Ode to Jen part 2

I've been sad all day
The cloud over my head is low and gray
I went to the mailbox and what did I see
A package from Jen addressed to me!

What could it be I wondered aloud
Would it lift this dull boring cloud?
What was this gold box that I eyed
GASP, Big Island candy, I literally cried

Tears ran down my face
we are separated by too much space
I miss you so much my friend
I've got your back til the end

Good friends are hard to find
someone who appreciates you soul body and mind
India is so far away
Maybe you'll move back to the US some day?

Until then just know
this girl misses you so!!

Love you!

Your pressie will be in the mail soon!!! :)

Sushi Anyone?

Well too bad....my husband ate it all. Yes, all the sushi in the world. You know you eat too much sushi when the chef gives you a gift to give your wife. J found a new sushi place by his work. He's gone there just about every day for lunch AND dinner. He's brought in so many people that now go there on their own as well. To thank J for all of his business, he gave him this adorable rice/bowl set for me!!!

It's adorable. Thank you Sushi man!!

Pay it forward......

My friend knit-whit had a pay it forward post on her blog. The first 3 people to post in her comments section under this post get a hand made item from her and in turn, they must post this same thing on their blog and pay it forward to 3 people as well. Well, I wanted to join so bad, but I dont DO hand made items. So I thought I couldnt. Well, Jenjen joined and her blog states it can be a purchased item. So...I'm joining hers now.

So here is what you do: The first 3 people to post in my comments (if 3 people even read this blog...haha) will receive a small gift from me in the mail! You will need to leave your email address if I dont know your address. In turn, you must post this same entry on your blog and pay it forward to 3 people with a hand made or small gift of your own! I figure I'm buying gifts for Christmas now anyway, so I may as well throw these in!! It is the time to give!!

So people....pay if forward!

Wheee.....gifts rock!

I was in a secret santa ornament exchange with some ladies down in Southern California. It's been rainy, cold, dreary, and just plain blah here. But when opened my mailbox and saw a package inside....it made me smile!! I knew it was my ornament. I stated that I loved coffee (I'm a self professed Starbucks whore), so when I saw this ornament I was excited! It's so cute! And a Starbucks giftcard to boot!!

Thank you Secret Santa!!

So Accomplished!

Nothing like tasty tomato soup for dinner with a side of garlic bread when it's chilly outside! Yesterday I spent the night making my Christmas cards while I nibbled on this warm yummy soup and bread. It has been so cold here lately, so it really warmed me up. Below you will see my handcrafted Christmas cards. Ok, so I bought these cards that came with paint. You are supposed to paint them yourself, but that seemed too messy for my taste. I had some metallic markers left over from last years cards so I used them to color them in. So if you know me and I send you a card....here's a spoiler. ;) I call them simple chic. :P

I normally am a huge procrastinator, but I've been proud of myself lately. I should be done with my Christmas cards by today. I bought a birthday gift for someone in my family. I am also in an ornament exchange and I purchased that and shipped it off today! I have to wrap up the cards and wrap some gifts and all I have left to do is go to the post office! Dont let that fool you though, I still have to do all of my Christmas shopping. I plan to do that this week and be done this weekend. Lastly, I need to put up a tree and some decorations! I'll post pictures this weekend!

I am supposed to go out to dinner tomorrow night with a girlfriend of mine, but I think I may have her come over instead if she is ok with that. I have had the urge to cook lately, so maybe I'll have more food to post on here. I'm not the best photographer of the food, so dont let that sway you from trying the recipes. :)

The Dynamic Duo

We invited some friends over for dinner last night and spent the day on Saturday shopping for ingredients and a few things we needed to make some cocktails as pictured at left. We made Lemon Drop Martinis from a recipe I found on the Food Network. They were very simple and good. I would maybe use a little less vodka than the recipe called for because J and I were drunk before we even sat down to eat!

As you will see below, there is chicken, yes chicken on that plate! I have given in to my poultry temptation and it started at Thanksgiving. I couldn't have Tgiving dinner without turkey....and that has since spilled over to chicken. I do not and will not ever eat Pork or Beef again...so bird is going to have to do. We decided to make chicken with spinach and pine nut pesto also found on Food Network.com. I wasn't sure if I was a fan of pesto or not, but this totally changed my mind. It was delicious!!! On the side we had Herbed Polenta with cheese. YUM!! I had never had polenta in this form, and I was very impressed. We also had some whole clove garlic bread from Nob Hill and it was the perfect addition to the meal.

Unfortunately, our friends called an hour and a half before dinner (as we were prepping) and said they couldn't come. It was a bit of a disappointment since we spent all day preparing for it, but nonetheless, we didn't let that stop us from having a good time! It was really nice to have some time with J cooking dinner and hanging out and talking (tipsy and all!). We make a good team!!
