My husband

How did I get so lucky? I just want you all to know that I have the best husband on the planet....for me. I'm sure you feel the same about your husbands too. :P I've been sick for the past two weeks. Stay in bed, miss school, can't clean or cook sick. J has been so great about all of it. He's been working full time after working 2 weeks straight with no time off. He goes to the grocery store for me, he cleans, and he gets me water and pills, etc. He's done such a great job of taking care of me that I just needed to give him the credit he deserves.

Thank you babe for giving up your free time for 2 weeks to take care of me and the house and pets. I love you!

Yippee!!!

I've been dying to see Wicked since first hearing about it. Well, my mother and my step daughter will both be in town for Thanksgiving, so I decided to treat them both to this show! I'm so beyond excited! The down side is that I have to wait until November, but that isn't that far off...scary as that is. Can you believe it? It's already fall! That is a whole other post in and of itself because it's my favorite time of year. Have you seen it? What are your thoughts?

Me likey

I have had my eye on this bed for a while now. Our color scheme is blue and chocolate as well in our bedroom. I think it's why I like it even more.

Thoughts?

Vampires and some other ramblings

There is something wrong with me. Ok..there are many things wrong with me, but I don't want to hear it from you. Remember my attempt at cutting back on television and reading and getting out more at the beginning of summer? Well, I've decided that has to be a summer thing. Thanks to my summer reading, I became hooked on the Twilight series of books. I read them all in the matter of days and even went to the release party for the 4th book, where our group was the only one there without a 13 year old accompanying us. Well, I loved the series so much that when my friends who also loved the book and went to the release party with me said I had to watch True Blood on HBO...well, I went and got HBO. JUST for this show. Obsessive much? It is very Twilight-esq. I watched the first two episodes tonight on ON DEMAND. I am enjoying it so far. J watched it with me and I'm not sure if he was that into it. It's by the creators or directors (not sure which) of Six Feet Under, which my favorite show of all time. I love, love, loved that series. I have the complete box set on my Amazon wish list, but can't bring myself to pay hundreds of dollars for some DVD's. Some day. Le sigh.

Well, with the fall season upon us, my DVR is jam packed with shows it needs to record. I've decided I'm too hooked on television to give it up completely, but I will rely more on the DVR. That way I won't revolve my life around a tv schedule, and instead will watch the shows when it fits into my schedule. Biggest Loser, Amazing Race, Grey's Anatomy....the list goes on and on.

Oooh, on a completely unrelated note, we booked our airfare for Japan!! We are set and finally going on a vacation we have needed for many many years. Next step is passports! Yay, I will finally have a need for a passport. I can join the cool kids club now. My life is complete...I get a bad picture in something else I can carry around and show people. (My drivers license is horrible...ask anyone who's seen it. Not the picture so much as when I opened it, it looked like I had the worst sunburn of my life when I took the picture...which I did not!)

I'm still struggling with this illness. Doctor said it was strep, meds didn't help, so now they don't know what it is. I have another appt. tomorrow afternoon, so keep your fingers crossed that it's just a virus that will run it's course soon. I've been sleeping for about 4 days now and I'm ready for it to be gone!

What is out of place? Do you know?

Do you ever go through a period in your life when you want to "reinvent" yourself so to speak? I've been so restless lately wondering what was out of place. I just can't seem to put my finger on it. Don't get me wrong, I have a good life, and can't really complain about much. I just feel like something is missing? I've been looking into starting a new lifestyle as far as eating and exercise go. I'm going to start researching some really healthy diets (ie macrobiotic and such). I'm tired of eating processed, bad for me food. I think it's what making me feel run down all the time. For example, I haven't been sick in ages, and I now I have strep throat. WTH? I also started doing yoga at home, but I'm not liking doing it by myself at home. I need the instruction and expertise of someone else. So, basically what I'm trying to say is I'm researching a healthier lifestyle and what I can currently afford being unemployed paying a mortgage on a worthless house I don't even live in! Bitter much? haha. I'd love to unload that thing, I think that would unload a lot of my stress! We just HAD to own a home in California. That'll teach us.

I've been looking into these things, but still not sure if that will help with that nagging restless feeling. I feel like I need to organize my house and my life. I think once I'm done with school and can start working again and getting my life into a routine, I will feel much better!

Like I said, life is good. I have a roof over my head, food on my table, and family who love me. I just need to start feeling like I'm contributing to living again!

Never Forget

Never forget those that lost their lives on this day 7 years ago. I was driving home from the store today and I saw well over 100 motorcyclists with flags doing a 9/11 ride. It was so touching and moved me to tears. I know people don't like to remember the bad things, but we can never forget those who lost their lives in such a tragic way. I will always remember where I was that fateful day when the world as I knew it was changed forever....or at least the way I viewed the world.

On a related note, please always keep in your hearts, those men and women fighting for our country at this very moment. Whether you believe in the war or not, or why it was truly started, you cannot take away from those over there fighting because they believe it's right. We as a nation must support them, otherwise, what are they fighting and giving their lives for?

If you wish to show your support, or donate, here is a great organization.

How did I get here?

I'm having a surreal moment right now. How the hell did my life become what it is? First of all, I lived in Minnesota for 26 years. I thought I was destined to grow old there, never experiencing anything in life, getting married, popping out kids, and that would be that. Not exactly my perfect life....but one I figured I was destined to. So how did I end up living in Orange County, California at 1:36am, unable to sleep, mad at my husband, with a horrible sore throat, jobless, and going to school for something I would have made fun of someone else doing not more than a year ago. Wow, 13 years of experience and expertise down the drain thanks to the subprime market, and several other factors. When I hit 30 last year, I was in a good place. I owned my own home, had a great marriage, and a job I absolutely loved. So how did that all change in 6 months? Now I sit here with a house that completely worthless since we had to move out of it due to transfer with J's job. My great income has been reduced to what I can get from unemployment which just ran out at the end of August. I try to call them every day to get an extension while I finish school and every day I get a message that they have too many callers (misery loves company right?) and cannot help me. And then they hang up on me. Of course it's a recorded message because God forbid I get to actually speak with a human being. At least I'm still happy in my marriage (even though I'm peeved with him at this very second over something insignificant and stupid).

On a positive note, I'm done with school soon, or at least this portion of it that I'm not exactly proud of. I drafted a new resume today with the information for the completely new field I'm entering and figured I wouldn't hear back from many people. Within an hour, I already had two doctors calling me back. Not sure if they will work out since I can only work part time right now, but hey, it's a start. I guess my track record with my past jobs counts for something after all in this new to me field.

I know I'm ranting on and on, but like I said before, it's 1:43 am now and I'm tired and sick....oh yeah, and mad at my husband. All of which I'll get over.

Life sure can change in a short amount of time. In the past 4 years, I've lived in 3 different states, 7 cities, and held 5 jobs. Before that, I'd had the same job for 8 years! I've owned 2 homes and met tons of friends. I can't say I'd change any of it. Overall we are very lucky and things are going well (minus the Sacramento house). I'm just amazed at how things unfold.

Well, after all my rambling, I'm going to try to get some sleep so I can go to school tomorrow...now that it's 1:52am. ;) Even though the time stamp below says it's 20 mins earlier. It's not.

Operation Tokyo part 2

I wont bore you with the details, but we've secured our hotel for the first weekend we are in town that the military resort was booked.

Phase 1 - Complete - Book military resort.

Phase 2 - Complete - Book Motegi hotel.

Now on to Phase 3 - Book airfare.

Now, I'm sure there are a lot of you (figuratively speaking, since there are only a few of you who read this blog) who think these posts are ridiculous because you travel all over, but as I said before, I've never traveled outside the country, so this is a bit overwhelming for me. I'm a list maker, so planning this out here helps! J has been to Japan before, but it was with the military, so that travel is much different than civilian travel. If any of you have any tips, or see that I'm overlooking something, please feel free to post suggestions!

We also need to start working on getting our passports and military ID's so we are set to go there.

Jen, when are you going to be in Japan?? I so hope we are there at the same time...even though I'm seeing you in November, it would be awesome to see you again in '09!!
